October Pre-Halloween Weekend Events
There are many events in Sonora this weekend, keep in mind that steeple repairs on the Historic Red Church will close part of the Y-intersection as detailed here.
This is the eighth year of the All Hallows fair, which begins on Saturday. The gates open at noon, the event continues through Sunday with the gates re-opening at 11AM at the Mother Lode Fairgrounds. On Saturday from 5:00-6:30PM there will be Trick or Treating for kids with vendors and encampments, from 8-8:30PM is a Fire Show and from 8:30-9:30PM is the Harvestman Burning as part of celebrating Samhain, a Gaelic harvest festival at the end of the Celtic year. Attendees are encouraged to come in costume, and enter the costume contest, but as reported here no clown costumes are allowed this year.
Columbia Elementary is hosting its annual Halloween Carnival Saturday October 22nd from 10am to 2pm. Money raised from tickets used at the carnival booths, a haunted house, the cake walk, and to buy tri tip sandwiches, snow cones, and much raises money for the PTA for school field trips. Also in Columbia on Saturday is the Columbia Fun 911. The event is to meet Tuolumne County Sheriffs and check out the swat vehicle, and other vehicles, and search and rescue vehicles including quads and snowmobiles. Meet police dogs and handlers, and learn from the officers, PHI air medical staff, and State Park Rangers how to begin a career any of their fields. The event listing is here.
Omega Nu Sorority presents the 2016 Fall Luncheon this Saturday. The tablesetting and holiday shopping boutique is being held at the Hotel at Black Oak Casino Resort. Details are here.
The very youngest trick-or-treaters are welcome to bring an adult and show off their costumes and best manners at each of several downtown Sonora businesses with large orange posters in their windows. This year the trick-or-treat street event is Saturday from 4 to 5:30PM.
