Caltrans Work To Delay Motorists On Several Mother Lode Highways

There is plenty of roadwork hitting the Mother Lode Highways and bringing delays to travelers next week.

In Tuolumne County, tree work will create short delays of up to five minutes along Highway 120 from Old Priest Grade Road to Yosemite National Park. The trimming will start Monday, August 15 and running through Friday, August 19 from 5:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. with flaggers conducting one-way traffic control.

More tree work along with guard rail repairs and paving will also be done on Highway 108 from Highway 120 to Sonora Pass, slowing traffic with possible ten minute delays.

Caltrans provided this schedule:

  • The #2 (right) lane on eastbound and westbound SR-108 will close from SR-120 to Old Wards Ferry for guardrail repair beginning Tuesday, August 16, 2016, through Wednesday, August 17, 2016, from 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
  • One-way traffic control on eastbound and westbound SR-108 from Soulsbyville Road to Strawberry East for tree work beginning Monday, August 15, 2016, through Friday, August 19, 2016, from 6:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.
  • One-way traffic control on eastbound and westbound SR-108 from Long Barn to Donnell Rest Area for paving operations beginning Monday, August 15, 2016, through Friday, August 19, 2016, from 6:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.
  • One-way traffic control on eastbound and westbound SR-108 from Kennedy Meadows Road to the Sonora Pass for shoulder work beginning Monday, August 15, 2016, through Friday, August 19, 2016, from 9:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.

In Calaveras County, motorists could face ten minute delays as well as overnight paving work continues on Highway 12 between Cedar Street and Highway 49 beginning Sunday night (August 14) and ending Friday night (August 19). Hours of operation will be from 7 p.m. until 6 a.m.

The same dates, times, delays and work will take place on Highway 26 between Savage Way and Paloma Road.

Once again next week, various road construction activity will take place on highway 49 from San Antonio Creek to Highway 12 in San Andreas. The work will begin on Monday and end on Friday. Caltrans offers this schedule:

  • The #1 (left) lane on northbound SR-49 will close from Mountain Ranch Road to Poole Station Road in San Andreas for pavement and utility work beginning Monday, August 15, 2016, through Friday, August 19, 2016, from 6:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.
  • One-way traffic control on northbound and southbound SR-49 from San Antonio Creek to Carol Kennedy Drive for shoulder work beginning Monday, August 15, 2016, through Tuesday, August 16, 2016, from 8:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.
  • One-way traffic control on northbound and southbound SR-49 from Cement Plant Road to Magers Way for shoulder work beginning Wednesday, August 17, 2016, through Friday, August 19, 2016, from 8:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.
  • The left and right shoulders of northbound and southbound SR-49 will close from Lumber Avenue to SR-12 for utility work beginning Monday, August 15, 2016, through Friday, August 19, 2016, from 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

Travelers can expect five to ten minute delays. Caltrans suggest commuters take alternate routes whenever possible.
