The weather forecast calls for cool and cloudy weather this weekend during many popular Spring events.
Columbia State Historic Park is hosting “Diggins Tent Town 1852”, an annual living history event. The event starts today and will go thru Sunday. The Tent Town allows visitors to interact and observe the lifestyles of the early miners as they prepare their meals, launder their clothing, and look for gold. Learn about their crafts, how their children played, their music and other forms or entertainment – including gambling. For entrance fees and details view the event listing.

Sonora High Boys Basketball Tri Tip Dinner and Silent Auction Fundraiser will be a nice Friday night family activity, details are here. On Saturday catch another Tri Tip Dinner and Auction at and for St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Details are here. This Saturday is the Sonora Bach Festival presents an “Organ Crawl” where audience members may walk, drive (or “crawl”) between three churches: St. Patrick, The Adventist Church and St. James. Some of the churches will feature music on several different organs, there will also be refreshments and a sing-along. Details are here.
Saturday is the Poly-Styrene Collection Day from 8am to 4pm put on by Waste Management, Inc, in Sonora.
Saturday Columbia Elementary is hosting a Color Run that is a 1 mile run/walk or a 5K race. All the details are in their event listing.
This Sunday’s events include more opportunities for High School Pre-Participation Sports Physicals, a Tuolumne Bears Golf Tournament and go on a Mokelumne River Rafting Adventure hosted by the Calaveras Mentoring Foundation. Donate to the Foundation and reserve your seat on a relaxing and memorable rafting experience on the Mokelumne River.
