Many Mid-April Events

This weekend calls for cool weather and a lot of events are scheduled. Saturday morning join the Old Mill Run, a family foot race fundraiser at Columbia State Historic Park. Details are here.


The 2nd Annual Rawhide Classic is both Saturday and Sunday and is open to the public at the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Posse Grounds, details are here. In the evening is the Great Steak BBQ with the Annual Rifle and Shotgun Raffle.

Saturday at the Sonora Opera Hall is the 5th Annual Spirit, Mind, Body Expo. The events invites the Sierra Foothill community to “Celebrate Wholeness.”

Also Saturday get some native plants at the CCWD: Native Plant Sale in San Andreas or learn about Mushrooms of the Mother Lode from a Bureau of Reclamation ranger at Table Mountain in the Jamestown area. Don’t forget Wildflower Train Rides at Railtown 1897.

Saturday in Twain Harte is Who Let The Dogs Out…Twain Harte Dog Parade or if you prefer join the Sonora Cat Rescue Fashion Show Gone Italian at the Twain Harte Golf Course. Also Saturday the Twain Harte Horsemen have their Top Hand Poker Ride, details are here.

Over in Murphys at Ironstone Vineyards on Saturday is the Taste of Calaveras with over 40 Calaveras winemakers, chefs, artists and live music. Saturday is also the 10th annual Spring Fling Sidewalk Sale from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm in Downtown Angels Camp.

The local theatre season is in full swing with links to information about the current and upcoming shows here.  Friday night the Columbia Elementary PTA will be hosting a family movie night featuring The Peanuts Movie. Over at Summerville High School the 7th and 8th grade students from Connections Visual and Performing Arts Academy are performing the musical, “Willy Wonka, jr.” Ticket details are here.

Up in Groveland the Forest Service is donating up to 50 tree seedlings to property owners. First come, first served from 8AM to 4PM both Saturday and Sunday at the Groveland Ranger District Office.

Sunday’s events are listed here including the South Pawsific Champagne Brunch as detailed in the Newsmaker of the day here, Big Joe and Bridgette of KKBN 93.5 FM will emcee the event at the Sonora Elks Lodge which includes a live and silent auction, beach lover’s games, and a five-star catered brunch to benefit the Humane Society of Tuolumne County
