More October Events

Several traditional fall events and fundraisers are scheduled for the second weekend in October 2015.

The Sierra-Tuolumne Kennel Club’s All Breed Show will be at the Mother Lode Fairgrounds in Sonora. Several events and activities are planned including a Barn Hunt to test any dog’s hunting instincts. Details about Barktoberfest Dog Show judging and activities are here.

The 2nd Saturday Art Night will feature a dance that was postponed from last month due to smoke from the Butte Fire. Details are in KVML “Newsmaker of the Day” here.

Columbia’s 30th annual Harvest Festifall is on both Saturday and Sunday this weekend. The Columbia Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring this arts and crafts fair held in Columbia State Historic Park. Local musicians and dancers will perform in the gazebo and on the street, there are fall theme activities for children, and many vendors. Details are in the event listing here.

Calaveras concludes its competition ‘Calaveras Has Talent’ this Saturday, doors open at 5:00pm. Bridgette and Joe from 93.7 KKBN are hosting the free event, more details are here.

The Nonperishable Food Drive at the Sonora Moose Lodge wraps up this weekend. Stop by their Parking Lot Yard Sale this weekend Saturday or Sunday.

The Grandma’s Attic Sale held this weekend will benefit Grandma’s House, a nonprofit that provides individual tutoring, mentoring, and life skills to young children who have educational challenges.

The 38th Annual Mountain Heirloom Quilt Faire will be held at Ironstone Vineyards in Murphys. View the quilts including the popular “wonky” exhibits, wall hangings, wearable and needle art, dolls and various venders. Calaveras County Animal Shelter in San Andreas is having a “Moving Sale!” in anticipation of opening its new cat housing at the shelter. Adoptions fees have been reduced, details are here.

At the Young Eagles Rally at Pine Mountain Lake kids from 8 yrs old to 17 yrs old may got for a free short introductory airplane ride from 9am to 12pm.

The 2nd Annual Family Fire Fest at the Mi Wuk/Sugar Pine Fire Department will be a free family event with food available this Saturday. Visit the fire station, learn fire safety, make crafts, watch some fire fighter demonstrations and ride the fire engine, more details are here.

5th Annual Rick Angermiller Golf Tournament at the Saddle Creek Golf Course in Copperopolis benefits the local non-profit TeenWorks that matches at-risk kids in the community with mentors. Details are here.

Barrels, Brews & Bites will be held at Railtown 1897 State Historic Park in Jamestown will feature food and wine prepared by culinary arts students from Columbia College, and Summerville High School’s “Zero Hibernation Jazz Band” will provide music. The event benefits and is hosted by Sonora Sunrise Rotary Foundation.

Also on Saturday enjoy the Annual Pasty Dinner, at Soulsbyville United Methodist Church and the Snagfaller’s Ball at the Independence Hall in Arnold.
