Sonora, CA — Starting this evening into Sunday expect some blustery winds to blow into the region.
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Wind Advisory for portions of Northern California that includes the Mother Lode. The advisory will be in effect from 11 p.m. Saturday to 11 a.m. Sunday. A strong low pressure system dropping down from the Pacific Northwest will bring blustery northeast to east winds from 25 to 35 MPH along with gust of 40 to 50 mph. NWS officials warn the high-powered winds may topple drought-stressed trees and damage power lines so residents are urged to take precautions. The system will also usher in cooler temperatures.
A Wind Advisory means that winds of 35 mph are expected, which can make driving difficult especially for taller vehicles, such as trucks, SUVs and motor homes.
