Valley Springs, CA – Two people including a child suffered minor injuries after a crash on Highway 26 in Calaveras County.

The collision happened Thursday night at 7 p.m. on the highway at the intersection of St. Andrews Road near the La Contenta Golf Course in Valley Springs. The CHP reports Ray McWilliams, 54, of Spring Valley driving a 1998 Dodge Caravan was stopped on the highway waiting to turn onto St. Andrews Road when Jen Giangregorio, 38, also of Valley Springs driving a Ford Explorer westbound on the highway smashed into the back of the van. The impact from the crash forced the van off the roadway into a tree.

McWilliams and his passenger, a 9-year-old female from Spring Valley, were both taken by ambulance to Mark Twain Medical Center. Giangregorio was not injured.
