The National Weather Service has issued a Significant Weather Advisory for southwestern Tuolumne and north central Mariposa Counties until 3:45 pm and southeast Tuolumne County until 4 PM.
At 2:54 pm, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm twelve miles northwest of Yosemite National Park, or twenty-five miles north of Yosemite’s South entrance, moving southwest at 5 mph.
At 3:02 pm, Doppler radar was tracking the same strong thunderstorm 14 miles northwest of Yosemite National Park, near Hetch Hetchy, moving west at ten mph.
Nickel and dime size hail will be possible with this storm.
Wind gusts of fifty to fifty-five mph will be possible with this storm.
Locations impacted include Crane Flat, Hetch Hetchy and Gin Flat.
Frequent cloud-to-ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike fifteen miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.
Locally very heavy rainfall may occur with this storm. This storm may intensify.
