Memorial Day Weekend Events

There are several different events scheduled for this Memorial Day Weekend. Beginning with a two day Rummage Sale all day today and tomorrow at the Mi Wuk/Sugar Pine Fire Department.

At 2:00 pm the Tuolumne County Health Department is hosting a free event to celebrate “the rainbow of produce that contributes to a healthy lifestyle!” Held at Grocery Outlet, expect: food tastings, how to read nutrition labels and properly store produce, health and exercise tips, and fun physical activities for all ages. The Arnold Lions 19th Annual Pancake Breakfast will be held Saturday morning, and after the breakfast attend the 37th Annual Arnold Spring Peddler’s Faire.

Railtown 1897 State Historic Park is hosting Memorial Day activities. On Saturday and Sunday, steam-powered excursion train rides behind Sierra No. 3 are available; then on Monday, visitors have the opportunity to take a ride behind a vintage diesel locomotive. Details are in our event listing.

Other Saturday events include a History Walk in Big Oak Flat, March Against Monsanto at 11:00 am in Courthouse Park, and “A Taste of Tuscany” dinner at the Mountain Ranch Youth Alliance Resource Center.

The Bureau of Reclamation just released and posted all their summer interpretive programs and activities at New Melones Lake in our calendar starting with Wheel of Wealth! this Saturday.

On Sunday Memorial Day Services are being present by the Smyth-Bolter Post 58, American Legion at Mtn. Shadows Cemetery. The Cemeteries of Tuolumne County will have Crosses and Flags placed on all Veterans Graves on Friday and Saturday, May 22nd and 23rd. prior to Memorial Ceremony on the 24th. On Memorial Day in Groveland there will be a Memorial Day Ceremony beginning at 10:00 am with taps. Details are here. 

In Columbia the Memorial Day Salute will honor Veterans of the Civil, Spanish American and Mexican Wars Presented by the Columbia Foot Dragoons and Grenadine Belles. The event listing is here.

Twain Harte will host A Call For Old Glory, Honoring Women Veterans at 11:30 at the Twain Harte Arch with the 12th Annual Memorial Day Parade. There will be a Flag Raising Ceremony and Hot Dog Picnic at Erosion Park.
