Details About Escaped Debris Fire

Sponsored by:

West Point, CA — CAL Fire has released additional information about a vegetation fire that was contained yesterday afternoon in Calaveras County.

The fire was reported to officials shortly before 2pm in the 21000 block of Highway 26 in West Point. A debris pile was burned the day prior, however, it continued to smolder into the following day. There was inadequate clearance around the burn pile, and it eventually picked up and spread into ¼ acre of nearby vegetation. It was contained just after 4pm by firefighters from CAL Fire and West Point Fire. No one was hurt as a result of the fire, and no structures were burned.
