Columbia, CA — Emergency crews are heading to an accident at Columbia Airport involving a pedestrian and a vehicle.
The CHP reports a ground vehicle in the 10700 block of North Airport Road has hit a pedestrian. An ambulance has been called to the scene, but there is no word on injuries at this time. We will bring you more information as soon as it comes into the News Center.
Update 2:45 p.m.: CHP spokesperson Nick Norton says the accident involves an airport worker and a plane in a hanger. He says it is now considered an industrial accident, which is under the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Department jurisdiction.
Update 3:30 p.m.: Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Department Sgt. Scott Johnson says it was actually a ground vehicle that hit the male worker. He says, “A non-county employee at the airport was struck by a vehicle. The extent of the injuries are not known at this time, but the patient was transported to Sonora Regional Medical Center for treatment.”
