West Point, CA — Cal Fire confirms high winds started a chain reaction that sparked a vegetation fire in Calaveras County.
As reported yesterday, the flames broke out at the intersection of John Eaph Trail near Smitty Lane at 2:11 p.m. Cal Fire reports the high winds caused a tree to come crashing down along with power lines, igniting a small 20’ x 50’ spot of vegetation. When firefighters arrived on the scene, residents were already working to put out the flames. The fire was contained in about 20 minutes. No one was injured and no structures were threatened.
