Beginning of October Events

The first weekend of October is full of large events, like the Grape Stomp and Oktoberfest, plus many community fundraisers.

The Calaveras Grape Stomp and Gold Rush Street Faire is happening this Saturday in Murphys. With over 100 vendors on Main Street, grape stomp teams competing in costume, and wineries competing for the President’s Trophy, the activities begin at 9AM and go till 5pm. All the details are here.

Oktoberfest, hosted by the Twain Harte Area Chamber of Commerce, is also this weekend on both Saturday and Sunday. Live music and arts and crafts booths will be featured; general admission is free, tickets for the tasting tent are $20 and include a souvenir beer mug. Canned food contributions are welcome for donation to the ATCAA Food Bank. The event listing is here.

Catholic Relief Services Fair Trade Craft Fair is this Saturday and Sunday. Items for sale are hand-crafted by artisans and farmers living in over 30 countries. The event listing is here.

Pine Mountain Lake Airport Day features free Young Eagles flights for children 8 to 17 and aircraft displays, fly-bys, flour bombing, and spot landing. The event listing is here.

Columbia’s Stories in Stone Tour continues. The guided tours of the Columbia Cemetery begin promptly at 7:00pm on Friday and Saturday nights, reservations are required. Details are here.

Skyline, the senior living place, will host “Skyline’s Got Talent” a talent show and spaghetti dinner open to the public for $10. The event listing is here.

The first Annual Mr. Summerville Challenge is this Saturday. Students will participate in pageant areas including talent, spirit wear, formal wear, and theme wear competitions. Tickets are $10 at the theater door, as listed here.
