Several events will be happening this weekend including the celebration of the State of California entering the Union in 1850.
Join in or watch the parade to celebrate California’s admission to statehood at Columbia State Historic Park. Participants may walk, ride or march in the parade and are encouraged to decorate using the theme, “Grizzly Bear.” Entry forms for the parade and more information is available in our events calendar.
The Tuolumne County Master Gardeners will host an Open Garden Day at 10am. Visitors can taste some of their harvest and listen to talks by Master Gardeners.
There will be a Garden Party Benefit for Sonora Cat Rescue. The fourth annual “Party at Pam’s Place” will be held on Sunday, September 7, 2014 from 1 p.m. till 4. The event listing says, “Since January of this year we have fixed over 1300 local cats with this new program and we are positioned and committed to reaching 2,000 by the year’s end.” Details about tickets are here.
The Big Dreams Parks & Playgrounds organization will be hosting its 2nd Starry Night Dinner in White. The event raises money to “create a park where individuals of all abilities can play together.” Guests dress in white from head to toe and bring a picnic dinner. Jamestown School will host a Fitness Challenge for children and adults of all ages who want to compete in 10 fitness events. The event is a fundraiser for Jamestown 6th graders to attend Foothill Horizons Outdoor School. More details in the Fitness Challenge event listing here.
Twain Harte Dam Duck Race will be held at Eproson Park again this year. The Ebbetts Pass Scenic Byway Association will be hosting their 8th Annual Scenic Celebration, Hermitfest, on Saturday as well. At the Mother Lode Fair Grounds will be Exotic Bird and Animal Expo.
