Update: Fire Ignites In Jenny Lind Area

Update at 4:28 p.m.:  Ground crews with the help of air resources have stopped the forward spread of a vegetation fire in Calaveras County that CAL Fire has named the “Shelly Incident.”

The blaze has grown from a half-acre to 2 to 3 acres in size and was threatening some building materials on the property.  The flames were moving at a moderate rate in some grass along the 11900 block of North Wimer Road, off Highway 26. A small crew will remain on-site working towards full containment and mopping up for the next couple of hours.
