After a fast-moving winter storm dumps more rain and snow on Northern California today and tonight, the state is expected to have little chance of severe weather through the
entire Christmas week.
But there´s a winter storm warning today from Yosemite northward in the Sierra and the northern mountains. At lower elevations of Northern California southward to the Merced area, rainy, windy weather is expected into tonight.
The winter storm warning today includes up to a foot of snow at higher elevations from U-S 50 northward in the Sierra Nevada to the Lassen and Mount Shasta areas. Winds at higher elevations could reach 50 miles per hour with blowing, drifting snow.
During the holiday period the long-range forecasts have just one chance of rain and snow developing in Northern California Christmas Day.
In Southern California, windy, cool weather is expected the next several days with only a slight chance of showers northward from Los Angeles on Christmas Day.
