A man driving an allegedly stolen bus surrendered late last night, after a chase on several Los Angeles-area freeways. There were no passengers on the bus, whose driver said he had parked and locked the bus to go on a break.
The bus was missing for about an hour before being spotted in the East Los Angeles area. A spike strip was used to blow out a rear tire, halting the bus in the Buena Park area of Orange County. Then law enforcement officers and the bus thief had a standoff for about 90 minutes that caused a massive backup on the 91 Freeway. He surrendered shortly before 11 pm.
