Work on crumbling sections of the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge is underway.
A series of holes in the deck in recent weeks have forced state Department of Transportation crews to make quick fixes as traffic backed up for miles.
Unfortunately for commuters who use the span, the work will likely take weeks to complete, guaranteeing more traffic snarls.
Temporary cement barriers on the span will be moved and the roadway will be re-striped to maintain the existing two lanes of traffic.
Road work will continue 24 hours a day until all problem spots are fixed. Some 60 thousand cars use the span every day.
