After The Storm

Thousands of homes in Northern California were without electric power following a powerful winter storm this

weekend.

The electricity outages were primarily in the San Francisco Bay Area and Santa Cruz County. Wind, rain and snow also led to hundreds of car crashes in California yesterday. The winds were 50 miles per hour in downtown San Francisco, with Sacramento having wind gusts to 61 miles per hour.

Happiest about the winter storm were ski area operators in the Sierra Nevada, where one to two feet of new snow was reported by this morning. But a number of Sierra ski areas do NOT plan to open

until Friday.
