Here comes winter. A strong storm is approaching the California coast and is expected to bring plenty of precipitation over the weekend.
Snow levels are expected to drop, possibly to the valley floor, by late tonight through the morning. And up to three inches of rain is forecast for the valley and parts of the foothills through Saturday afternoon.
The Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for the Northern and Central Sierras and a wind advisory for the motherlode for Saturday.
