Oakland Man Surrenders
A tense standoff in Oakland ended with the peaceful surrender of a Cambodian immigrant who had holed up inside
his home with an A-K-47 assault rifle.
The man came out of the house and turned himself over to police this morning without incident.
Police were called to the home on Sycamore between 25th and San Pablo at about 1:00 a.m. When they arrived, the man was throwing things out the window and was clearly agitated.
The man´s wife and four children got out of the house earlier and were not hurt.
Authorities say the man has had mental problems in the past. He´s angry about the U-S bombing in Afghanistan, which he apparently fears will cause more violence in this country.
