Unprecedented security is promised again today at California´s four landmark bridges identified as possible
targets of a terrorist attack.
National Guardsmen with M-16s and Humvees patrolled the bridges yesterday along with an increased number of CHP officers and the U-S Coast Guard.
Governor Davis went public Thursday with the FBI´s warning that suspension bridges across the West could be targets over the next few days.
There were no reported problems at the four bridges Davis named: the Golden Gate and Bay bridges in San Francisco, the Vincent Thomas Bridge at the Port of Los Angeles and San Diego´s Coronado bridge.
Traffic across the spans yesterday was lighter than usual.
