BART officials may be heading back to the bargaining table to avoid a Tuesday strike of its professional employees union.
There were no talks scheduled yesterday, but BART officials confirm they are reviewing the latest proposal from the union working through a state mediator.
The latest offer from the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Local 3993 drops a proposal for pay parity among employees doing the same jobs. That union represents 238 employees and previously rejected BART´s latest offer of a 22-percent pay increase over four years. BART´s two largest unions said they would honor the picket line if a strike occurs Tuesday.
