Investigators are engaged in the grim task of figuring out what caused two fire-fighting air tankers to collide
near Hopland in Mendocino County.
Both pilots were killed. This morning, Dianne Sanders of the state Department of Forestry and Fire Protection
said the pilots assigned to the planes have been identified as Larry Groff of Santa Rosa and Lars Stratt of Chico.
The Mendocino County coroner´s
office plans an autopsy to confirm the identifications.
