Crews prepared today to remove the wreckage of a charter jet from Los Angeles that crashed near the
Aspen, Colorado, airport. All 18 people aboard were killed in the night landing. Investigators are looking into why air traffic controllers were unaware of landing
restrictions that went into effect last week.
The charter jet wasn´t the only plane to encounter trouble that night. Three other planes trying to land were
forced to abort approaches; only one actually landed.
The list of reported victims headed to a weekend birthday party in Aspen, Colorado included
partners of a Beverly Hills luxury car rental company, Robert New and Mario Aguilar. New´s brother says Aguilar´s mother, aunt and two brothers also were
on the Gulfstream jet.
