World leaders are welcoming Yugoslavia´s arrest of its former president. France´s president says, “Justice
now must be done.” Britain´s foreign minister says that it´s a step toward holding Slobodan Milosevic and his allies responsible for “crimes against
President Bush calls Milosevic´s arrest an “important step” toward healing a decade of Balkan brutality. Bush says Yugoslavia is
cooperating with a U-N war crimes tribunal and he hopes Milosevic is “brought to justice.”
Milosevic´s lawyer is appealing his client´s detainment and
says that Milosevic will “speak up and tell the truth.” Officials have ordered him held for 30 days, promising no mistreatment.
