State officials and consumer groups are incensed that Pacific Gas and Electric Company gave out 50 million
dollars in bonuses and pay raises just hours before filing for bankruptcy protection on Friday. Governor Gray Davis issued a statement accusing the utility´s
management of what he called “denial and greed.”
Davis is blasting P.G.& E. for seeking court protection in the power crunch. The utility says its 13
million customers won´t see any disruption in service.
