Bush Takes Tough Stand with China

President Bush says he won´t rule out force to protect Taiwan from China. The president says U-S military
force is ´´certainly an option´´ if China invades Taiwan.

China considers Taiwan a breakaway province that must be reunited with the mainland. The
1979 Taiwan Relations Act requires Washington to provide Taiwan with whatever it needs to defend itself.

Bush´s unusually blunt warning to China
comes on the heels of China´s detention of 24 U-S military personnel and his decision to sell arms to Taiwan.
