California´s power buyers have negotiated a seven billion dollar contract with Sempra Energy Resources.
Governor Gray Davis says the ten-year contract will provide 250 megawatts of electricity starting June 1st, eventually increasing to 1900
Meanwhile Democratic leaders in the California Legislature say they are planning to sue the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission — for
refusal to cap the spiraling cost of electricity. They say that violates the commission´s responsibility to require reasonable power rates.
