Former Bay Area City Councilman Pleads Guilty To Fraud Charges

A former East Palo Alto city councilman has pleaded guilty to influence peddling, tax evasion and mail fraud
charges.

R.B. Jones faces a possible jail sentence of two and a half years in prison.

The government will drop other charges in exchange for
Jones´ guilty plea for soliciting and accepting five thousand dollars from California Water Services in 1999 to influence other council members to approve a
water district contract. He to not reporting money on his federal tax return and making 17 hundred dollars in a minority contracting scheme.
