Bloodhounds brought in to search for a missing Modesto woman indicated that she left her home in a car, not on foot.
Modesto police continued searching Tuesday for 27-year-old Laci Peterson – who is 8 months pregnant. Her husband Scott Peterson reported her missing on Christmas Eve after he returned from a solo fishing trip. He told police his wife had stayed home to walk the dog at a nearby park and get ready for a family dinner. Police brought a bloodhound in last week to help with the search. The bloodhound didn´t head to the park, but instead led investigators toward the San Joaquin River.
A reward for her safe return has grown to $500,000. A candlelight vigil is planned for this evening at East La Loma Park.
Peterson´s family also plans to meet today with Susan Levy, the mother of Chandra Levy, another Modesto woman who disappeared. Chandra Levy was living in Washington D.C. when she disappeared in May 2001. She was found dead a year later.
