A high wind advisory for a wide area of Northern California has been added to the winter storm warnings in mountain areas.
The National Weather Service said heavy rain and snow is moving into Northern California to continue a deluge that began Friday.
In addition winds of 60 to 70 miles per hour are now expected at lower elevations of the Sacramento Valley and northern San Joaquin Valley.
In the mountains the high winds are expected to produce blowing, drifting snow tonight and tomorrow. The new forecasts include heavy rain and snow into tomorrow night in most of Northern and Central California. There are more chances of rain and snow each day through Saturday, as temperatures turn colder.
