California´s unemployment rate dropped to 6.4 percent in November. That number is down one-tenth of a percent from October. The Employment Development Department released the preliminary statistics Friday.
The report shows the number of people holding jobs in California increased by about 13,000. About 1.1 million people were unemployed last month.
The unemployment rate, which has remained fairly steady during the last six months, is still above the 6.1 percent recorded a year ago. Although California defied the national trend, the unemployment rate is still above the national average. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported last week that November unemployment rates increased to 6 percent nationally after remaining flat since early fall.
