Three violence prevention leaders were awarded the 2002 Peace Prize by The California Wellness Foundation.
Raja Rahim of San Francisco, Wayne Sakamoto of San Diego and Joseph Myers of Santa Rosa, each were awarded $25,000. A formal ceremony will be held Friday for the 10th annual awards.
Rahim currently works at the Greenbook Project, a national pilot program dealing with the connection between child welfare, the courts and domestic violence.
Myers heads the National Indian Justice, a national training program for tribal governments.Sakamoto is the son of two Japanese internment camp detainees and has spent 15 years helping communities with violence prevention.
