The first Greyhound bus rolled down Stockton Street at 8 a.m. this morning with paying passengers on-board after a 15 year absence from the Mother Lode.
One of the first passengers this morning is Daniel Toloffson. “This is long over due,” he said while waiting in the morning chill for the bus doors to open.
He says he is taking the bus from Sonora to Modesto where he will make a connection with another bus heading to Washington state. The new bus service is allowing him to visit his mother in Seattle.
The busses will make two daily round trips linking Sonora with Oakdale and Modesto from the Sonora Days Inn at Washington and Stockton streets.
