Geologists Indicate Big L.A. Earthquake Overdue

Geologists say their research into past major earthquakes indicates the Los Angeles area may be overdue for the next “Big One.” Digging into 15 centuries of peat and debris they found evidence of quakes of magnitude seven-point-five or greater averaging 105 years apart. The last quake that big in the L.A. area was 157 years ago.
