Breaking News…A San Jose jury has recommended the death sentence for Yosemite killer Cary Stayner.
The jurors rejected defense pleas to show Stayner mercy because of his traumatic childhood, mental illness and inability to control his urges.
The disappearance of three tourists at Yosemite National Park terrorized communities along California´s rugged Sierra Nevada in 1999. Carole Sund, 42, her daughter, Juli, 15, and their Argentine friend, Silvina Pelosso, 16, were his victims.
According to Stayner´s confession, when he saw the three women in their room at the rustic lodge where he worked, he saw “easy prey” to fulfill a longtime sexual fantasy that had turned violent.
