The lawyer for Yosemite killer Cary Stayner has asked a jury not to be swayed by anger or a thirst for revenge as they decide his fate.
In closing arguments in the penalty phase of Stayner´s murder trial Monday, defense attorney Marcia Morrissey said Stayner´s crimes are horrible and ghastly. But she says he doesn´t deserve a the death penalty, a punishment reserved for the worst of the worst.
Earlier in the day, prosecutor George Williamson urged jurors to return a death verdict. He told them to remove from society forever a man he calls an opportunistic sexual predator who has no remorse for his crimes.
