California legislators are continuing their attacks on Proposition 51. That´s the groundbreaking ballot initiative targeting nearly $1 billion a year from the state budget for traffic relief and the environment. They´ve held four hearings blasting it in a week and another is scheduled tomorrow in Los Angeles.
Lawmakers call it a threat to state finances and an affront to the democratic process. But initiative backers say they´re simply stepping in to provide infrastructure where the Legislature has failed.
