The cost to fight the 3100-acre fire roaring through the Santa Cruz Mountains, has hit $3.2 million. Ruth Ferziger of the California Department of Forestry says the fire is now 40% contained. More than 2000 people are on the scene to fight the blaze and provide support. The fire has destroyed at least eleven homes and damaged four others. CDF says that number could climb because crew’s can’t get to many areas to survey the damage. 300 homes are threatened and there has been seven minor injuries. Santa Clara County is in a state of emergency. The fire is burning 20 miles south of San Jose.
