Jurors in the San Jose murder trial of Cary Stayner have the day off today with testimony scheduled to resume Monday. Yesterday the prosecution´s medical expert Doctor Alan Waxman testified that he examined a scan of Stayner´s brain and found it to be normal. Stayner´s defense team maintains that evidence shows the accused killer´s brain is abnormal and that he was insane when he allegedly killed three Yosemite National Park tourists in 1999. To bolster that claim defense lawyers had Doctor Joseph Wu testify that regions of Stayner´s brain differ from those of normal brains. But yesterday Waxman questioned Wu´s methodology. He testified that his technique for arriving for a composite image of a “normal” brain is flawed.
