Severe thunderstorms over north-central Tuolumne County, between Highway 108 and Highway 4, had weather officials issuing storm warnings around 3:30 p.m. Friday afternoon. The warnings expired about 4:30 p.m. with no reports of damage from the storm.
Server thunderstorm warnings were also issued for parts of El Dorado County and the Lake Tahoe region.
A pair of lightening-caused fires were reported in the Stanislaus National Forest Thursday afternoon. The fires east of Lake Alpine were small. Lightning strikes were also reported in the Brightman and Dodge Ridge U.S. Forest Service fire crews will be keeping a close watch for dry lightning-caused fires over the next several days.
