Movie Landmark Burns In Hollywood

It took Los Angeles firefighters about two hours to control a blaze Tuesday morning in the oldest building on Hollywood Boulevard. The fire broke out about 9:15 a.m. in an unoccupied four story building with importance in film-world history.

The Hillview Apartments were built in 1916 as a residence for actors and extras. Residents of the building owned by Charlie Chaplin and Jesse Lasky included Mae West and Oliver Hardy.
