Bridge Worker Killed In Scaffold Accident

A worker was crushed to death today when a huge scaffold buckled on the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge is the son of a man who almost died in an earlier construction accident on the same span.

Darryl Clemons of Oakland died when the 18 thousand pound aluminum work platform known as a “traveler” buckled in the middle and he was pinned against the bottom of the upper deck by one of the edges.

Three other workers were injured. They were being treated at hospitals in San Francisco.
