A federal grand jury in Los Angeles is reportedly investigating a law firm led by one of San Diego´s most prominent attorneys.
The Los Angeles Daily Journal is reporting that the grand jury is investigating New York-based firm of Milberg Weiss Bershad Hynes and Lerach. The firm is headed by San Diego attorney William Lerach. Lerach is attempting to be named lead counsel in the onslaught of investor lawsuits against Enron, the bankrupt energy company.
The grand jury is reportedly investigating whether Milberg, Weiss paid plaintiffs to take part in investor suits against US companies. An assistant to Lerach said yesterday that the firm had no comment. Lerach is well known nationally for representing plaintiffs in shareholder lawsuits.
