Former Los Angeles policeman Rafael Perez has testified in the trial of two officers accused of framing a drug suspect. Statements by Perez ignited the LA Police Rampart
Division scandal, in which he implicated up to 70 other officers for alleged wrongdoing. Perez was called to testify Friday in the case of Dion Coleman, who is trying to overturn his drug conviction.
Perez testifield in Los Angeles yesterday he was NOT present when two other officers arrested Coleman. Perez said both officers in the arrest had falsified documents on previous occasions. But Perez said officer Armando Coronado would not plant evidence on people he arrested. Perez pleaded guilty to state and federal corruption charges for his role in a series of crimes.
