Modesto Council Member Shoots Down Union’s Cheesy Protest
The Modesto City Council has told a engineers union they must tone down the level of protest they are aiming at a building materials company owner. Representatives of Engineers Local 3 have been picketing in front of building materials business owner Gregory Reed´s home because Reed has not initiated a labor contract with the local. The protestors have been wearing rat costumes and even set up a two story high inflatable rubber rodent on the street adjacent to Reed´s house. The City Council voted six to one against the union, saying they have gone too far to be protected by the First Ammendment´s right to free speech.
