Raymond Houston pleaded innocent yesterday in the death of his estranged wife, a San Jose Mercury News photographer.
Thirty-nine-year-old Houston appeared in Alameda County Superior Court. He´s accused of shooting Luci Houston.
His lawyer says there is no evidence linking his client to his wife´s death.
But Deputy District Attorney James Meehan says a medical report shows that Luci Houston´s DNA was on a bullet found lodged in her bedroom wall.
Luci Houston filed for divorce in June and had told friends and police that her husband physically abused her. She was last heard from on November 20th and her body was found five days later in a company car parked in front of a cemetery near the Oakland home she shared with her husband. He´s being held without bail.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for mid-April.
