Requests are coming from across the country for a free, bilingual anti-war newspaper that began rolling off presses in an Oakland warehouse yesterday.
Activist Bob Wing says he launched the newspaper, called War Times, to counter what he sees a warmongering atmosphere taking hold of the nation.
Wing is the paper´s managing editor. He worked with writers and activists to produce 75-thousand copies of the paper. That´s more than 10 times the demand they originally had estimated.
The newspaper contains articles both in English and Spanish. The first issue features an interview with actor Danny Glover, who criticizes the bombing of Afghanistan.
Wing says the newspaper´s only political agenda is to shine a spotlight on the injustice of war.
