Poll: Simon Gains On Riordan, Governor Vulnerable

A poll shows Bill Simon closing the gap with Richard Riordan in the race for the Republican gubernatorial nomination. With less than two weeks to go before the March fifth primary, the poll by the Public Policy Institute shows Riordan with 41 percent of support from likely GOP primary voters. Simon has 24 percent and Secretary of State Bill Jones has nine percent. The poll also contained bad news for Democratic Governor Davis. His approval rating is at 44 percent and, according to the poll, he looks vulnerable in hypothetical match-ups with all three of the Republicans competing to challenge him in November.
